JIMMY'Z Seersucker Shorts Grey

Surf. Skate. Relate. The iconic JIMMY´Z brand was founded in 1984 in Malibu, Southern California. An acclaimed sculptor, painter, and surfer named Jim Ganzer had the idea to create clothing for surfing and the beach. And so, all-cotton shorts with side Velcro closures were born. This concept ultimately shaped the way surfers and skaters wore clothes in the 80s. The original name, however, was JIMMY´S. For legal reasons, Jim could not register his own name as a trademark. And thus, JIMMY´Z was created. The *Z* in the name stands for "E-Z-IN, E-Z-OUT." Where did the car in the logo come from? As a teenager, Jim owned a 1950 Ford Woody, which he used to transport his surfboards to the beach. In its first year, Jim sold 3 million dollars' worth of merchandise, thanks in part to an aggressive and unique print advertising campaign that even featured Cindy Crawford.
